By Carolyn J. Williams, Letter to the Editor, Muscatine Journal

I have been working hard for three years, helping Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks get her message out. But this candidate has worked harder than any of us, has a great life story and is person who can make a real difference in Washington D.C. on day one.

In the waning days of this election cycle, the best her opponent can do is toss out a countrywide Democratic talking point about taxes that is simply not true. If her opponent can't run on his record - he must be removed.

I will also take the time to serve a warning to the new Republican majority: Get things done. Don't let the bloated bureaucracy designed in the last two years take shape, but on the other hand, stick to business, not petty investigations just because you can.

We need representatives who can learn, listen and lead. Dr. Miller-Meeks has done that all her life and she will do that for us in Congress. A nurse, veteran, wife, mother, educator, doctor, small-business owner and most recently the first woman president of the Iowa Medical Society, she understands critical thinking and has what it takes to fight for Iowans of the 2nd District.

Vote Miller-Meeks for Congress on Nov. 2.
